Meet our new Youth Ministry Director
Dr. Marissa Gooden
Marissa Gooden is St. Augustine’s new youth director. She has been a member of this church her entire life. She received the sacraments of baptism, first communion and confirmation all at St.Augustine. She also attended religious education and was a member of the Knights of St Peter Claver Junior Daughters, Youth Group and Youth Choir. In 2012, she represented St.Augustine and was awarded NAACP ‘Teenager of the Year’. These experiences as a child were impactful for her Catholic faith and she is grateful for the adults who guided her during those times. Being youth director allows her to give back to this parish and be a mentor to today’s youth as they navigate through their Catholic faith journey. Her goals as youth director are to educate the young people ages 12-18 about the Catholic faith through programs and activities, engage them in community outreach and volunteer work, and encourage fellowship amongst each other as well other youth in Memphis. Besides being St.Augustine’s new youth director, Marissa is also a pharmacist. She attended Xavier University of Louisiana for undergraduate as well as College of Pharmacy and graduated in 2019 with honors. Her hobbies include traveling and interior decorating.
